Mangaluru, Oct 20: Two strangers placed stones beside railway tracks, which produced a loud noise when two trains passed by. Locals, alarmed by the sound, rushed toward the railway tracks near the Thokkottu overbridge.

Women returning home from the Koragajja Agelu ritual around 8:05 PM on Saturday spotted the two strangers near the tracks. Shortly after, a train headed towards Kerala passed, accompanied by a loud noise, but the locals did not initially pay much attention. When another train passed, a similar loud noise was heard, and nearby houses experienced vibrations. Concerned, the locals rushed to the tracks, fearing a rail accident, and found that the stones placed on the tracks had been crushed.

One local woman, who has lived in the Thokkottu area for 40 years, mentioned that she had never experienced such vibrations from passing trains before. This is the first instance of its kind. Locals reported the incident to both the railway police and Ullal police station.

Residents believe that intoxicated individuals often sit under the overbridge, and many complaints regarding this have been filed at the Ullal police station. While a potential tragedy was averted, locals are urging the concerned department to install CCTV to prevent any future danger.
