Udupi, Oct 24: “The traditional sciences are based on Sanskrit, which is the root language of all languages,” Baba Ramdev said in the 51 st All India Oriental conference inauguration held at Sri Krishna Math, on October 24.
Sri Yogarishi Swami Ramadev Maharaj, Pathanjali yogpeeth Haridwar, highlighting the critical role of Sanskrit in preserving ancient knowledge, said, “Those who learn Vedas and Sanskrit in Gurukuls should become renowned worldwide. There is a desire for them to create history in various fields, and the Patanjali organization is working towards this. Indians should have pride and respect for being the heirs of a great lineage of sages. Madhvacharya proposed the noble philosophical and practical idea that humans are the children of God. Therefore, Udupi deserves to be respected similarly to Kashi, Mathura, and Vrindavan.”
Baba Ramdev stating about the scholarship to Sanskrit students said, “At Patanjali Gurukul, children are taught to memorize the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. I invite students from Udupi to visit our institution. The expenses for this will be borne by our organization. Additionally, each student will receive a scholarship of Rs. 25,000. Those proficient in Sanskrit can do more than become professors; they can achieve even greater accomplishments. The 21st century belongs to India, and those knowledgeable in Sanskrit will be given special recognition.”
“The next All-India Conference on Traditional Sciences will be held at the Patanjali institution in Haridwar. Dignitaries from around the world will be invited to participate in this global conference. The Udupi eight math pontiffs and scholars should join this event,” said Baba Ramdev.
Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, Parya Sri Puttige Math, speaking at the event, said, “Udupi is the capital of spirituality. India is exceptional due to the confluence of God and devotees. The ancient system of knowledge has matured over time, and its preservation is essential. In an era where words that harm Sanatana Dharma are heard, everyone must vow to protect religion and culture. Sanatana Dharma is the only faith that grants intellectual freedom, which is why numerous sects have flourished within it. In other religions, the words of the founder are considered final and must be followed by others.”
Swamiji highlighting the enduring nature of Sanskrit said, “There is nothing comparable to the Indian tradition of knowledge. The influence of English education is widespread, but preserving traditional knowledge is a duty, as it has a history of 10,000 years. It remains independent and has not been influenced by any external forces. Other languages have undergone changes in their original form, while Sanskrit has maintained the same form throughout all times. If other languages are unclear, Sanskrit remains a precise language. In English, there is a difference between writing and reading, but in Sanskrit, what is written is read in the same manner. Preserving Sanskrit ensures the preservation of ancient knowledge.”
Acharya Balakrishna, addressing the gathering said, “Our culture is tied with Sanskrit language, therefore to save our culture we must save Sanskrit language. There is no culture on earth where people say ‘sarve janha sukinobavanthu’, other than in India, people just look for their growth. Only Sanskrit can preserve the culture. However, there is a conspiracy to end this tradition. The Aryan-Dravidian concept is being propagated to create divisions among people. It was the Indians who constructed the Silk Route, but the British altered history to suggest that the route was built for foreigners to enter India. The Archaeological Survey of India has records of 6,000 historical sites, while the Patanjali organization has gathered data on 10,000 historical places.”
The conference was organized in association with Bharatiya Vidvat Parishad Bangalore, Paryaya Puttige Math and Central Sanskrit University New Delhi. The inauguration of the event was held at Rajangana in Krishna Math.
The conference was inaugurated traditionally, with the lighting of a lamp and the watering of a Tulsi sapling, marking the beginning of the event.
During the event, Baba Ramdev was conferred with the title "Yogendra Samrat" by Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji. The occasion also saw the release of a book on the All India Oriental Conference (AIOC) and "Shastra Badhathehi" authored by Srinivas Varakedi.
Professor Nanda Kishore Patharkine was felicitated on the occasion.
The traditional Vedic recitations were performed by Shrinidhi Acharya (Yajurveda), Ragavendra Acharya (Rigveda), and Keshava Acharya (Samaveda).
The opening prayer was presented through a Yakshagana performance by SMSPT. Acharya Veeranaryana Pandurangi, chairperson BVP welcomed the gathering. Shrinivas Varakhedi, vice chancellor central Sanskrit university New Delhi presided over the event.
Junior pontiff Sri Susreendra Theertha Swamiji, Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejavara Math, Vidyesh Theertha of Sri Bhandarakeri math, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Local secretary Professor Shivani V, General Secretary Professor Kavita Holey, retired professor of Sanskrit Pune University Professor Saroja Bhate, and others were present.
