Udupi: SP Advises Policemen to Get Rid of Flab

Udupi, Dec 5: “The policemen of the district are working under tremendous pressure. There is a 60 percent shortage in manpower in this district. To be able to cope up with this increased workload, the police personnel need to maintain their physical fitness,” said district superintendent of police, Y S Ravikumar.

He was speaking after inaugurating the medical checkup camp organized for the district police personnel on Sunday December 4 by CSI Lombard Memorial Mission Hospital, Association of Medical Representations, Rotaract Club Brahmavar, Giants Group, JCI, Lioness Club and Rotary Club Kodavoor, in association with the district police department and Citizens Health Forum.

“The policemen are required to put in lot of hard work. They cannot work by sitting at a place. Therefore they need to be healthy and fit,” he opined. He added that during a recent survey, about half of the police personnel in Bangalore were found to be obese. He said that such policemen should change their lifestyles and follow advices of experts.

Dr Rathish Johson, speaking on the occasion, observed that sedentary lifestyle and neglecting health condition by the policemen have been resulting in obesity and diabetes. He said that the policemen should maintain humanitarian relationship and maintain their health, so that they can contribute to the health of the society.

Additional superintendent of police, M V Venateshappa, health surgeon, Dr Anant Shenoy, Brahmavar Rotaract Club president, Shivanand Nairy, orthopedist, Dr Chennakeshava Rao, dermatologist, Dr Snanat S Rao, gynaecologist, Dr Deepa Pandit, district Lioness Club president, Vasanti Shetty, Malpe Rotary secretary, Poornima Janardhan etc were present.
