Mangaluru: Controversy erupts over RSS event in govt school premises

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (AB)

Mangaluru, Oct 30: A controversy has erupted over an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) event being held within a government school’s premises near Surathkal, defying state government regulations that restrict the use of school grounds for government-related activities only. A video capturing the RSS activity at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School in Mangalapete has gone viral, sparking public outcry.

The Karnataka state government mandates that government school premises are exclusively for government-sanctioned programmes, prohibiting public events unrelated to educational activities. However, despite this regulation, it is alleged that the RSS has been holding sessions in the school every Sunday, which has now drawn attention from both the local gram panchayat and the education department.

Local authorities were alerted to the activities by the school administration, which reportedly notified the concerned departments regarding the RSS’s regular presence on campus.

It is necessary to prohibit any political or communal parties from holding events within school premises. (Govt schools or pvt) Resorts or seashores are the appropriate places for such events.
