Udupi, Nov 9: The floating bridge at Malpe beach, the first of its kind in Karnataka, reopened to the public on November 6 and has quickly become a popular attraction.

Originally launched in 2021, the bridge offers visitors a unique experience and stunning views, making it one of the key draws at Malpe beach.

Tourist numbers are rising steadily, with over 4,000 to 5,000 people visiting the beach daily to enjoy the cool evening breeze and the scenic surroundings. On weekends, the crowd swells to as many as 10,000 visitors.

The 130-meter-long, 3-meter-wide floating bridge can accommodate up to 200 people at a time, allowing them to take in breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the vibrant sunset. Safety railings have been installed along both sides of the bridge to ensure the safety of tourists.

At the bridge’s sea end, there is a platform that is 15 feet long and 8 feet wide, offering an additional vantage point for sightseeing. To ensure the safety of all visitors, 13 lifeguards are stationed along the bridge, and every tourist must wear a life jacket during their visit. Lifebuoys are also available in case of an emergency.

The floating bridge operates on a fee of Rs 150 for a 15-minute stay, making it an affordable yet memorable experience for all.

With the opening of the bridge, Malpe beach has gained even more appeal as a must-visit destination, offering not only scenic beauty but also added attractions for both local residents and tourists.
