Car Street Govt First Grade College hosts Mangalore University inter-collegiate swimming competition

Mangaluru, Nov 10: The Mangalore University inter-collegiate swimming competition was hosted by Dr Dayananda Pai P Satisha Pai Government First Grade College, Carstreet, on November 7 at Yemmekere Swimming Pool.

Dr Jerald Santhosh D'Souza, director, Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University, inaugurated the event and emphasized the importance of swimming in everyday life. Guest of honor Pradeep D'Souza, deputy director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Dakshina Kannada district, stressed the importance of physical activities in daily life. Dr Prasanna B K, university observer, Devipradad, Dr Vasanthi, Shubha K H and Dr Aparna Alva N were also present. Principal of the host college, Dr Jayakar Bhandary M presided over the function.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from colleges across Mangalore University.

The event was coordinated by Shubha KH (convenor), and Dr Aparna Alva (co-convenor), physical education directors of the college.

Dr Kishore Kumar C K, HoD of Physical Education, Mangalore University was the guest of honour of the valedictory ceremony.

Results:

First overall team championship
Men - St Aloysius (a) College, Mangaluru
Women - St Aloysius (a) College, Mangaluru

Second team championship
Men - Alva's College, Moodbidri
Women - Canara College. Mangaluru

Third team championship
Men - Sacred Heart College, Madantyar
Women - SDM College, Ujire

Individual Championship
Men - Gagan G Prabhu and Pranam BP (St Aloysius College, Mangaluru) with 89 points
Women - Rachana Rao (Canara College, Mangaluru) with 96 points.
