Grand premiere of ‘Payann’ Konkani movie held in Qatar

Doha, Nov 11: The highly anticipated Konkani movie 'Payann', produced by Sangeeth Ghar Production, premiered in Qatar to an enthusiastic response from audiences at Asian Town Cinema-3. The event attracted a full house, with viewers expressing deep appreciation for the film’s storytelling, performances, and cultural significance.

A brief stage programme was held during the interval. On stage were Payann’s producer, renowned Konkani singer and composer Melwin Peris, known as the 'Yodeling King', along with MCC president Naveen D’Souza, vice president Shameen Lewis, founder member and advisor Jerald D’Mello, and MCC executive committee members and advisors.

During the programme, president Naveen D’Souza expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Konkani community and everyone involved in bringing Payann to Qatar. Jerald D’Mello presented a memento to Melwin Peris in recognition of his contributions. Peris shared a brief history of the journey behind Payann, providing the audience with insights into the dedication involved in its creation. The programme was conducted by MCC general secretary Renzil D’Souza.

Directed by Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira, Payann tells the heartfelt story of a singer and musician's life, exploring the challenges, sacrifices, and triumphs they encounter along their journey. The film beautifully captures the artist’s passion for music and the cultural significance of their work. Audiences praised the film for its authentic portrayal of the Konkani musical heritage and the emotional depth conveyed by the cast.

As the organizers, MCC Qatar salutes the entire cast and crew of Payann, including producers Melwin Peris and Neetha Peris of Sangeeth Ghar Production and director Joel Pereira, for making this event possible.
