Bhubaneswar, Dec 12 (IANS): Odisha has stopped iron ore exports from the state through two private ports in Andhra Pradesh, an official said Monday.
The state government in October had asked all the ports exporting iron ore from Odisha to provide operational details and the mechanism they follow to check illegal exports.
"We have stopped issuing permits for the exports through the Gangavaram and Kakinada ports in Andhra Pradesh after the port authorities did not respond to our queries," an official of the steel and mines department told IANS.
Odisha initiated several steps to check illegal mining and illegal exports of iron ore from the state after some politicians alleged in July 2009 that some mines were operating without licences.
