Davanagere, Nov 16: St Aloysius Institutions (International School and PU College), Harihar, organized JESCOL-1 on the October 21 and 22. This programme is level-one of the Jesuit collaborators who have newly joined the Jesuit Institutions.
It is a platform where these collaborators (in this programme it was for the teachers of the school and PU college) learn about the history, vision, mission and legacy of the Jesuits and the values on which lay collaboration is built.
Day 1 began with the registration and ice-breaking sessions. Teachers from St Aloysius International School (Harihar), Kapipaladi School (Pannur) and St Xavier's College Kalaburagi attended the programme.
Day 1 was more on:
a. Jesuit history: origin and growth by Fr John Baptist SJ
b. Jesuit legacy: purpose, vision, mission by Fr Vinod AJ SJ
c. Jesuits and education by Fr Eric Mathias SJ
The day concluded with a panel discussion with long-term Jesuit collaborators: Grace Noronha (school advisor), Pushpalatha Urs (principal of PU College), Mohsin Ulla (vice-principal) and Sunny Gudinho (competitive exam director). All these shared their life experience and their understanding of the core values of their collaboration with the Jesuits.
Day 2 was a time for the Jesuits from other communities across the Karnataka province to carry forward the sessions on JESCOL.

The programme concluded by thanking the participants by the management for their active participation and cooperation. This was followed by the distribution of the participation certificates. The chief organiser for the programme was Fr John Baptist SJ.
