Udupi: AICS conference concludes with insightful discussions, valedictory ceremony

Udupi, Nov 21: The Association of ICSE and CBSE schools organized state level annual Conference concluded on a high note, emphasizing the role of education in fostering societal transformation. The event featured thought-provoking discussions, presentations on best practices, and a grand valedictory ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries.

The valedictory programme commenced with a soulful rendition of “Yellara Novanu Ballavanaadare Gelluve Neenu Baalalli” by students, setting a reflective tone for the session. The stage was graced by eminent personalities, including K P Rao, Retired Professor from MIT Manipal; Prof Mathew C Ninan, Charter President of AICS; and several other educational leaders, including Vincent D’Costa, Fr Francis Arun D’Souza, and Abhilasha S, Principal of S M S English Medium School (CBSE) Brahmavar.

In his address, K P Rao underscored the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He highlighted its significant role in enhancing decision-making, efficiency, and problem-solving across various sectors. "AI has evolved over the years to meet the evident need of our time, and it is poised to dominate the future further," he remarked.

Professor Mathew C Ninan called attention to societal challenges undermining the humanity of education, including rigid mindsets, socioeconomic barriers, and gender biases. He emphasized the need to counter fanaticism of all kinds to preserve education’s essence as a tool for holistic development.

The event also included a morning panel discussion on the theme, “Re-thinking Education: Integrating Multiple Perspectives for a Compassionate Future.” Panelists such as Prof. Rajaram Tholpadi, Dr Neeta Inamdar, and Dr Archana Bhat Kallahalla shed light on pressing educational challenges, ranging from the erosion of moral literacy to the impact of information overload on children.

The afternoon session, “Philosophy to Practice,” showcased innovative approaches to education implemented in schools across the region. Presenters highlighted practices like theme-based co-curricular activities, zero-waste initiatives, and immersive "learn by doing" methodologies.

Dr Geetha Shashidhar, Secretary of AICS, concluded the programme with a heartfelt vote of thanks, lauding the collective efforts of all participants in making the conference a success. The AICS Conference served as a platform to explore, discuss, and implement transformative ideas, paving the way for a brighter future in education.
