Yenepoya Department of Hospital Administration successfully conducts 'SOAR-2024' program

Mangaluru, Nov 21: The Department of Hospital Administration at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) successful completed Student Onboarding for Administrative Readiness (SOAR-2024) program, held on Wednesday, November 20 at the university campus.

The primary aim of SOAR-2024 was to seamlessly integrate incoming students into the department, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the essential principles of healthcare administration and fostering their personal and professional development.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, distinguished guests, and students. The chief guest, Dr Maji Jose, dean of Student Affairs at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the importance of student collaboration, building a friendly campus environment, and cultivating qualities essential for effective administrators.

A landmark moment of the event was the celebration of the crystal anniversary of the Department of Hospital Administration, marking its remarkable 15-year journey. Dr Sunita Saldanha, professor and head of the department and dean of the Yenepoya School of Allied and Healthcare professions, presented an engaging retrospective on the department's growth and achievements over the years. To commemorate this milestone, a special logo symbolizing the department's success and growth was unveiled.

The program also marked the formal installation of the Student Committee, a cornerstone of the department’s governance. Newly elected student representatives were presented with badges, signifying their commitment to student welfare and upholding the department's values.

To enrich the academic and professional understanding of the students, the program featured thought-provoking sessions led by eminent faculty members:

Dr Ravi Vaswani, professor in the Department of General Medicine and joint secretary of Yenepoya Ethics Committee-1, spoke on "Humanity in Healthcare."

Dr Rashmi Jain, professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and coordinator of the Medical Education Unit, delivered a session on "Lost in Translation: Miscommunication and Mishaps in Hospitals."

Dr Sunita Saldanha, dean of Yenepoya Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Professions, conducted an insightful session on "Navigating the Healthcare Maze."

The SOAR-2024 program concluded on a high note, leaving students inspired and prepared to embark on their academic journey with confidence and enthusiasm.
