Puttur: The Jewels Group to hold free cancer awareness, screening camp on Dec 1

Puttur, Nov 22: The Jewels Group, in association with the Catholic Board of Education, Diocese of Mangalore, commission for Health, Puttur parish, Father Muller Hospital, and the Indian Cancer Society, will hold its 14th free cancer awareness and screening camp at the Mãe De Deus Church Hall, Puttur, on Sunday, December 1, from 8:30 am to 2 pm.

The camp includes a cancer awareness presentation and interaction with expert doctors from Fr Muller Hospital to answer questions. Screening tests provided free of cost (normally Rs 800-1000) include:

• Male: Oral, head and neck examination
• Female: Oral, Head and neck, PAP smear and breast examination

The camp benefits individuals with symptoms like:

• Thickening/lump in breast or scrotum
• Prolonged bleeding/white discharge after menstruation
• Frequent/recurrent cough, hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing
• Unhealed ulcer or growth on cheek/tongue
• Indigestion, loss of appetite, burping, significant weight loss
• Obvious change in mole or wart

The general public or Puttur and the surrounding areas, irrespective of their religion, is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
