Doha, Nov 25: Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), in collaboration with Reyada Medical Centre organized a free medical wellness health checkup camp for the third year in succession here on November 15. The medical wellness camp was held at the Reyada Medical Centre premises.
The free health check-up involved tests for blood sugar, blood pressure, total cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, creatinine, uric acid, vision and also GP doctor’s consultation etc. Around 150 people availed the benefits of the free medical camp.
A short stage programme was held on the sidelines of the medical wellness camp. Fr Rosario Colaco, spiritual director of Qatar Konkani Speaking Community, was the chief guest of the programme while Altaf Khan, sales and marketing head, Reyada Medical Centre was the guest of honour.
MCA president Gladson Almedia highlighted MCA’s various health initiatives such as free medical check-up camps, blood donation camp etc, in the post covid times. "Even though MCA is predominately a social-cultural organization, our utmost goal has always been reaching out to the needy and the sick back home. With changing times, especially in the post covid era, MCA also broadened its horizons by undertaking several initiatives such as free medical check-up camps, blood donation camps, sports day etc that are aimed at promoting the health and holistic wellbeing of our members and all sections of society in Qatar,” he added.
Altaf Khan, sales and marketing head, Reyada Medical Centre highlighted Reyada Medical Centre’s efforts to make medical services affordable to the people.
Dr Mubeena, GP, Reyada Medical Centre, then came up with a short awareness talk with a presentation that was aimed at educating the gathering about the lifestyle diseases and precautions and preventions, lifestyle modifications to be adopted in order to enjoy a healthy life.
MCA vice president Jovita Pereira D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks while Nelvita Noronha compered the programme.
MCA honorary members Harry Lobo, Arthur Pais, Veena Rebimbus Pais and Aloysius D'Souza too were present on the dais.
Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) cultural secretary Meena Mascarenhas, Tulu Koota Qatar vice president Vijay Kumar Rai, Billavas Qatar general secretary Mahesh were present on the occasion.
In a press statement, MCA said it was grateful to Jamsheer Hamza, MD Reyada Medical Centre, Altaf Khan, sales and marketing head, Reyada medical centre and nurses, doctors and other staff members of Reyada and volunteers of MCA who contributed to the success of the medical wellness camp.
