Mangaluru, Nov 26: Pidayi, a Tulu movie produced by K Suresh under the banner Namma Kanasu, has been officially selected for screening at the Kolkata International Film Festival. Written by Ramesh Shettigar and directed by national award winner Santhosh Mada, the film will be showcased on December 8 and 9.
The movie features renowned Sandalwood actor Sharath Lohitashwa in the role of Mahamayi Patri, along with a talented cast that includes Roopa Varkady, Ila Vittal, Devi Nayar, Deepak Rai Panaje, Pushparaj Bolar, Preetesh, Anil Raj Uppala, Ravi Varkady, and child actors Monish, Trisha, Dhruva, Nihan, Kushi, DCB Shekhar, and Anita Chandrashekhar.
Cinematography is by Unni Madavoor, with dialogues penned by Ramesh Shettigar and DCB Shekhar. The film was shot in the scenic border regions of Manjeshwar and Mudipu. The lyrics are written by Padma Shri awardee Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri, Kannada Sahitya Academy awardee Sudhir Attavar, and Tulu Academy awardee Kushalakshi Kanvatheertha, with music by Ajay Namboodiri.
For the first time, renowned singer Sangeetha Vidyanidhi Dr Vidyabhushan has lent his voice to a movie, accompanied by Medha Vidyabhushan and Vijesh Gopal in background vocals. Background music is composed by Kerala State Award winner Deepankuran. The film is edited by two-time national awardee Suresh Aras, with art direction by Rajesh Bandyodu and costumes designed by Meera Santhosh.
The team also includes makeup artist Binoy Kollam, chief co-director Vignesh Kulal, co-directors Girish Achar Sullia, Pradeep Rao, and Vishwa Mangalpadi, and team manager Ravi Varkady. Still photography is handled by Deepak Uppala.
One of the film’s highlights is the introduction of Tulunadu Kunita Bhajane for the first time in cinema. Lyrics for the Kunita Bhajane are written by Yogish Adakalakatte and poet-advocate Shashiraj Kavoor, with music by Sandeep Ballal and Shinoy Joseph, respectively.
With its rich cultural essence and stellar team, Pidayi promises to captivate audiences at the Kolkata International Film Festival.
