Mumbai, Nov 26: The Karnataka Vishwakarma Association, which has thrived for 80 years under the guidance of senior members and the unwavering support of its members, began its 80th-anniversary celebrations with a grand launch. Association president Ravish G Acharya emphasized the strength of the organization, which has been steered efficiently by all its past presidents. He expressed hope that the Vishwakarma community, which has made remarkable contributions across various fields, would continue to grow alongside the association. Acharya called for collective support to make this milestone year a success, with year-long programs planned to commemorate the occasion.
The celebrations were inaugurated on Sunday, Nov 24, at the Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Mira Road East. Speaking on the occasion, Acharya lit the ceremonial lamp and praised the efforts of the association's youth and women's divisions, as well as all volunteers, in ensuring the success of the event. As part of the inaugural ceremony, the Tulu play Kopparige, directed by community artist Ashok Kodyadka, was performed.
Former association president Sadananda N Acharya from Kallianpur spoke about the importance of unity within the community. He highlighted how active participation in association events strengthens bonds and fosters development, urging everyone to continue their support for the association's growth.
Former president GT Acharya reflected on the association's legacy, calling the 80th anniversary a proud moment. He expressed gratitude to the founding members who united the community and emphasized that the association's growth has been made possible by the tireless efforts of countless community members over the years. He encouraged everyone to contribute to the success of the anniversary celebrations.
The event was graced by past presidents, including Paduru Janardhan Acharya, Mahabala A Acharya, Nitte Damodar Acharya, GT Acharya, and Sadananda N Acharya, along with senior members such as K Sundara Acharya, advocate Sudhakar N Acharya, Sadananda G Acharya, and priest Shankaranath Acharya. Present office bearers included vice president Ganesh Kumar, secretary Prasad Acharya, treasurer Baburaj M Acharya, women's division president Sujata G Acharya, and youth division president Sandesh G Acharya, among others.
The cultural highlight of the program was the performance of the Tulu play Kopparige, directed by Ashok Kodyadka and organized by Kodyadka Creations, Mumbai.
The event began with a prayer by members of the women's division. Ganesh Kumar delivered the welcome address, and secretary Prasad Acharya coordinated the proceedings.
