Udupi, Nov 28: The 19th annual day celebration, Kala Vaibogam, where dance and tradition intertwine to celebrate India’s cultural diversity, was held on Saturday, November 23, at Gurukula Public School. The grand event highlighted the rich heritage and traditions of the nation through mesmerizing performances.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished chief guest, Dr Deepak Shetty, deputy general manager of Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Bengaluru. Other dignitaries included Anupama S Shetty, president of the programme, Subhashchandra Shetty, joint managing trustee, and the principals of Gurukula PU College and Gurukula Public School, Avinash and Sunil Patrick, respectively.
The celebrations unfolded on a sprawling stage set up on the school grounds, with NCC cadets and the school band escorting the dignitaries to the stage. The programme was hosted by students Anjan and Avani, who began with a heartfelt prayer to invoke divine blessings.
Siya Shetty of II PU welcomed the guests, followed by a presentation from the Principals of both institutions, showcasing the achievements and activities of the academic year 2023-24. Sushma S, PGT, announced the academic achievers of the year, who were awarded certificates and prizes by the chief guest and the president.
In his inspiring address, Dr Deepak Shetty emphasized the importance of goal setting, patience, and perseverance for students to lead meaningful lives. He said, "Parents have the complete responsibility of shaping their children's lives in a systematic way, so it should be understood and followed. The position of Guru is great. The role of Guru is important in building a healthy society by reforming the children in the society. It is the responsibility of the teacher to recognize the talents in children and provide them with the best platform." He narrated the stories to tell the importance of parents, teachers and students’ roles in upbringing the child as a whole.
Anupama S Shetty in her presidential speech, said that students need extra-curricular activities that complement their physical and mental health along with curricular activities. "In addition to education, in our institution, we are providing all kinds of curricular and extracurricular activities for the complete development of the students," she said and added that according to the dream of the founder chairman Basruru Appanna Hegde, priority has been given to imparting cultured education for the all-round development of children.
The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Bharath BS, the head boy.
The cultural segment began with a captivating welcome dance by the students of Gurukula Public School, followed by a variety of performances by students and teachers, showcasing India’s vibrant traditions and cultural diversity.
The event was lauded as a grand success, with enthusiastic applause from the audience reflecting the hard work and dedication of the performers. Kala Vaibogam 2024 was not just a celebration but a vibrant portrayal of India’s cultural ethos.
