Bantwal, Nov 30: A daily wage labourer of the forest department died inside the office at B C Road while on night duty.
The deceased, Jayarama Moolya (45), son of the late Krishnappa Moolya, was a resident of Veerakamba village. He had been working as a daily wage labourer with the forest department for the past 30 years.
On the evening of November 29, Jayarama reportedly told his colleagues that he was feeling giddy. Later, after his colleagues left, Jayarama was alone in the office. It is suspected that he collapsed at his desk and died of a cardiac arrest while attempting to rest.
At around 6:30 am on November 30, the forest department driver noticed that the office door remained closed, even though it was already morning. He opened the window and peered inside, only to find Jayarama collapsed on the table. The driver then broke the door latch and entered, but by that time, Jayarama had already passed away. He was immediately taken to the government hospital, but the doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Jayarama is survived by his wife, two brothers, and one sister.
