Mangalore: Rome Pontifical University Awards Doctorate to Fr Clifford Pinto

Fr Denis Veigas

Mangalore, Dec 17: Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto of the diocese of Shimoga has been awarded doctorate in dogmatic theology by the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, Rome.

He earned the doctorate after successfully defending his thesis titled 'The Expiatory Sacrifice of Christ Enkindles Eschatological Hope' on Friday December 16.

"In the midst of the suffocating self-love of the modern and post-modern culture, our real hunger is to know and have communion with the one true God revealed in the pages of the Bible. Only in doing so will we satisfy our cravings for security (faith), find the purpose for which we exist (hope), and be able to live free from slavery to self (love)," he said.

Fr Clifford who hails from St Lawrence parish, Bondel, Mangalore, had his licentiate in theology at Belgium.
