Washington DC, Dec 7: The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia celebrated their Christmas event on Saturday, December 7 at the Mid County Community Recreation Center, Maryland. Approximately 150 attendees relished the opportunity to meet in person with friends and families.
The event, titled “Christmas Party and Masquerade Ball 2024,” was an instant hit and a night to remember. It was filled with laughter, dazzling costumes, and festive cheer, making the evening unforgettable. The enthusiasm, warmth, and presence of every guest made the gathering truly special.
The mother-daughter duo Carol Rodrigues and Alisha Rodrigues seamlessly carried out the program as emcees, engaging the crowd and ensuring a lively and smooth flow. They invited everyone to gather for a group picture, capturing the festive spirit of the evening. Following this, the committee members and their spouses officially opened the Christmas party with the Masquerade Ball. Soon after, other couples joined in, filling the dance floor with joy and celebration.
The Santa game was a highlight, bringing immense joy and excitement to the children. This created wonderful memories for all families gathered at the venue. Many children actively participated in the event, with Alina D’Souza assisting Santa as an elf and young boys Joshua and Jayden Noronha leading carol singing with the guitar.
The Masquerade Ball was the highlight of the evening, with judges secretly selecting the best-dressed participants in four categories:
- Best Dressed Male: Jerome Fison
- Best Dressed Female: Louise Brown
- Best Dressed Girl: Rachel D’Souza
- Best Dressed Boy: Noah D’Cunha
The ladies’ dance performance added charm to the event, showcasing talent and making the evening unforgettable.

- DJ: vice president and DJ Clement Noronha, whose music selection elevated the event’s energy.
Special thanks were also extended to volunteers, including Prema D’Souza for food setup and cleanup, Saritha D’Souza, Meryl Kuriakose, Harry D’Souza, Neil and Neviel D’Cunha, and all families who contributed to the event’s success. Their dedication made the Christmas party a magical experience.
Merlyn Mathias announced the new committee for 2025-2026 on behalf of the election committee comprising Juliet Vas, Julia Dante, and herself. The new committee members are:

Neviel D’Cunha delivered a brief speech on behalf of the new committee. president Julia Dante thanked the advisory committee, including Esmie Wright and James Dante, who appreciated the current committee’s efforts. Plaques were presented to honor president Julia Dante, who in turn recognized each committee member’s contributions.
Numerous spot prizes and raffle prizes added excitement throughout the evening. The Masquerade theme was exceptionally well received, ensuring the event’s success.
