Udupi, Dec 20: Foreign policy is the strategy that determines the political, economic, cultural, and military relations between nations. Formulating foreign policy is both an art and a strategy, and safeguarding national interest is the foremost priority of any nation, stated professor Kokkarnne Surendranath Shetty, retired head of the department of political science, MGM College, Udupi.

He was speaking at a special lecture on the 'Changing global dynamics and their impact on India', organized jointly by the Udupi Rotary Club and the Udyavara Rotary Club at the Rotary Bhavan in Kadiyali, Udupi.

During the programme, professor Shetty emphasized the importance of adapting foreign policy to meet the evolving global scenarios and highlighted the necessity for India to strategically navigate its position amidst these changes to safeguard its interests.

The event was presided over by Rotary Club of Udupi president Rtn Gururaj Bhat and Rotary Club of Udyavara president Rtn Jeevan D'Souza. Udupi Rotary Club secretary Vaishnavi Acharya delivered the vote of thanks. A discussion session followed the lecture, allowing attendees to interact with the speaker.

The programme shed light on the critical need for nations to prioritize their national interests while fostering global relations.
