Kasargod: Two Jewellery Shops Burgled

Kasargod, Dec 25: Reportedly, thieves burgled two jewellery shops located at Karivellore near Payyannur in the district on the night of Friday December 23, and made good their escape after stealing gold and silver valuables worth about nine lac rupees.

The two shops belonging to brothers, C K V Gandadhar, and C K Babu, which are situated in Karivellore Bazar, were targetted by the thieves. While Gangadhar lost about six lac rupees worth of items including 22 kg of silver and five and half sovereigns of gold, Babu lost three sovereigns of gold ornaments and silver, totally worth three lac rupees.

The thieves had also strewn around the things found inside the shops. Two iron rods were found abandoned at the spot. The theft was detected when the shops were opened on Saturday morning for business.

Payyannur police circle inspector, K Damodaran, and other police officials visited the spot and guided the investigation.
