Mangaluru, Dec 30: In celebration of Karavali Utsava 2024, a two-day-long Film Festival will be held on January 2nd and 3rd at Big Cinemas. Additionally, a Car and Bike Show will take place on January 4th at Kadri Park Road, followed by Yuva Mana at Deer Park on the same day. A Dog Show is scheduled for January 5th at Kadri Park. These events were announced by deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan.
Addressing the media on Monday, December 30, Mullai Muhilan shared that the district administration is utilizing active spaces to host various events for Karavali Utsava. He mentioned that since the inauguration, there has been a positive response from the public, with large numbers attending the events.
The Film Festival is being held for the first time during Karavali Utsava. One screen at Big Cinemas will be exclusively dedicated to the festival, which will feature nine films and one short film in Kannada, Konkani, and Tulu languages over the span of two days.
Entry to the Film Festival is free.

Car and Bike Show – January 4th
The Car and Bike Show will be held on January 4th at Kadri Park Road. The road will be closed to vehicles, allowing pedestrians to enjoy the display of various cars and bikes.
State-level Dog Show – January 5th at Kadri Park
A state-level Dog Show will be hosted on January 5th at Kadri Park, featuring over 20 breeds. Breeds such as Labrador, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Beagle, Rottweiler, Shih Tzu, Pomeranian, Boxer, Siberian Husky, and many others will participate. Rare breeds like Chow Chow, Miniature Pinscher, Mini Pom, Poodle, Akita, and Belgian Malinois will also be showcased.
The show will be divided into three categories:
- 3 to 6 months
- 6 months to 1 year
- 1 year and above (Adult category)
Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. Registration for participants will be open from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on January 5th.
The event is organized by the district administration in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services. The winners from all categories will compete in the final championship, where cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three dogs in the show.
Expert judges will evaluate the dogs based on breed standards, movement, temperament, and overall condition. A Police Dog Show will also be a special attraction, demonstrating the importance of dogs in crime scene investigation.
Yuva Mana – January 4 and 5 at Deer Park
A musical event titled Yuva Mana will be held at Deer Park on January 4th and 5th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, aimed at promoting local talent. Performances will include Sur Sangeeth, Sur Taal, Gabrielle Troop, Y1, Round Table Inspiring Talk, Tulu rap by Adithya, and Shor the Band.
Additionally, on January 5th, there will be a Morning Raga performance by violinists from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM at Kadri Park.
Other Program Schedule:
- Robotic Butterfly Show at Kadri Park until January 19th, from 4:00 PM
- Heli Taxi at Sahyadri College Adyar until December 31st (Rs. 4500 per person)
- Youth Festival at Kadri Park on January 11th and 12th
- International Kite Festival at Thannirbhavi Beach on January 18th and 19th
- Beach Festival has been postponed (new date will be announced).
