Udupi, Jan 1: The Bairampalli Grama Panchayat office, located in Udupi Taluk (Ward 23), remained locked on Wednesday, January 1. due to the absence of staff members.
On December 19, the Panchayat staff submitted resignation letters, citing mental strain and health issues caused by the overwhelming workload.
The Panchayat president informed higher authorities about the situation through an official communication, but no action was taken. As a result, the staff failed to report for work on January 1.
Unaware of the staff’s resignation, members of the public who visited the Panchayat office for their tasks found the doors locked and had to leave without any resolution.
The lack of prior notice or communication regarding the closure led to widespread frustration and outrage among the residents. Many shared videos of the incident on social media, which quickly went viral, further amplifying public dissatisfaction.
