New Delhi, Jan 4: Dakshina Kannada (DK) MP Capt Brijesh Chowta paid a courtesy visit to union home minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Friday.
During the meeting, Capt Chowta drew attention to several key issues related to the security and development of the Dakshina Kannada region. He submitted a letter advocating for the establishment of an NIA Centre in Mangaluru, the upgrading of banking and fisheries infrastructure, and the enhancement of railway and roadway connectivity between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
“These initiatives, if implemented, would significantly bolster the region’s security, economic growth, and sustainable development,” stated Capt Chowta in his letter.
Speaking about the meeting, Capt Chowta said, “It is a wonderful start to 2025 to have had the opportunity to meet our home minister Amit Shah today. I highlighted various issues concerning our region, including the completion of the Coast Guard Academy, fisheries, and cooperatives. I also sought his guidance to work for the party, the state, and the people in the days ahead.”
As a token of respect, Capt Chowta presented the union minister with a large portrait depicting Tulunadu’s famous buffalo bull race, Kambala. Capt Chowta has been leading the organization of the annual Mangaluru Kambala for the past eight years.
