Mangaluru, Jan 7: The 277th programme of Mandd Sobhann's monthly theatre series took place on January 5 at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar. At the Amphitheatre packed with audience, nine-year-old Alani D'Souza presented her Musical Nite and Enthralled everyone, singing nine songs.
At the event, first, the chairman of Kalangann, Ronald Mendonca, unveiled the banner for the Konkani play 'Sardar Simanv', which will be presented by Mandd Drama team on the occasion of their silver jubilee celebrations. Eric Ozario, the Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, handed over the 'Gumatt' (musical instrument) to Alani, encouraging her to carry forward the Konkani singing tradition and wished her well. Dubai-based businessman and philanthropist Vijay D’Souza rang the bell to inaugurate the event. Mandd Sobhann office bearers Louis J Pinto, Keron Madtha, and, on behalf of the Mandd Drama team, Arun Raj Rodrigues, Viddu Uchil, and Vikas Kalakul were present on the stage.
Later, nine-year-old singing sensation Alani Leora D’Souza delighted the packed audience at Kalaangann by singing nine songs written/composed by renowned artistes Chafra D’Costa, Wilfy Rebimbus, Claude D’Souza, Chris Perry, Eric Ozario, Melwin Peris, and Lloyd Rego. Music director Mavish lead the Band of Musical geniuses Sachin Sequeira (Drums), Jason D’Souza (Lead Guitar), Ashwin Correa (Bass Guitar), Shawn Braslin (Violin), and Ashwil Colaco (Keyboard).
Alani’s Trainer Shilpa Cutinha and young singer Arvin D’Cunha accompanied Alani and the Blue Angels Choir backed her singing. The event was beautifully compeered by Roshan Kulshekar along with children Sanjana Mathias, Angel Cutinha, Anika D’Souza, and Shannon D’Costa. Alani's mother, Lolita Saldanha, presented mementos to those who contributed to the success of the programme and her father, Ajay Glen D’Souza, expressed gratitude.
