Mangaluru, Jan 9: In a major breakthrough, Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested Shameer P K (42), a key drug supplier from Kerala, for trafficking hydroponic marijuana from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala. The authorities seized 738 grams of the high-value drug worth Rs 73 lac and other assets in the operation.
The police acted on a tip-off about a car transporting illegal drugs along the Bappanadu National Highway. Upon intercepting the vehicle, they found Hydroponic marijuana along with a red Hyundai car (registration number: KL-76-B-2296) and a mobile phone used for coordination.
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 80.1 lac. Initial investigations reveal the marijuana was smuggled into the country from abroad. A case has been filed at the Mulki Police Station.
The operation, led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal IPS and Deputy Police Commissioners Siddharth Goyal IPS and K Ravishankar KSPS.
The police have vowed to intensify their crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
