Goa police set to launch app for seamless parking in tourist hotspots

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Jan 11: Tourists and Goans alike will soon benefit from a new mobile application developed by the Goa police to streamline parking in popular areas across the state. With the app's launch, users will have real-time access to available parking spots, easing congestion at tourist destinations, beaches, markets, and commercial zones.

The app aims to tackle persistent parking challenges by providing detailed maps of public parking facilities. Phase two of the project will introduce sensor-based technology, enabling real-time updates on parking availability, according to a senior police officer.

In addition to improving the visitor experience, the app will help reduce illegal parking and ensure smoother traffic flow. With features like navigation guidance to nearby parking spaces, the application will be available for both Android and iOS users.

This initiative is part of Goa's broader push towards smart urban mobility solutions, designed to enhance tourism while addressing the growing challenges of vehicle management in the state. The app will be updated regularly to reflect new and revised parking locations.

Meanwhile, Goa police continue to embrace technology with the recent deployment of the Bhashini App to improve communication with citizens, and the launch of the police public feedback QR system to assess and improve police responsiveness. Furthermore, Goa police is planning to introduce an intelligent system for real-time verification of tourists, tenants, and migrant workers.
