Goa board launches answer-wise revaluation, refunds for wrong one-markers

Panaji, Jan 12: In a significant move aimed at improving the revaluation process, the Goa board of secondary and higher secondary education has announced that students will now be able to apply for revaluation of individual answers rather than the entire answer sheet. This new procedure will benefit students by allowing them to pay only for the specific answers they want re-evaluated.

Under the updated system, class X and XII students will be required to first apply for a photocopy of their answer sheet at a fee of Rs 500, after which they can decide which answers to have re-evaluated at an additional charge of Rs 100 per answer.

Previously, students could opt for a revaluation of the entire answer sheet for Rs 700. However, the new policy allows for greater flexibility and cost-saving, as students who find their answers correctly marked can choose not to pursue revaluation, potentially saving up to Rs 200.

Goa board chairman Bhagirath Shetye explained that this change was introduced after feedback from parents, who felt their children's answer sheets were wrongly evaluated. By mandating a photocopy, the board aims to give students the ability to pinpoint specific answers they believe were marked incorrectly.

Additionally, Shetye revealed that if any one-mark questions are found to be wrongly evaluated, students will receive a Rs 100 refund per question. This move, he explained, ensures that students are refunded if a clear-cut, one-mark question is improperly assessed.

The Goa board is also working towards uploading answer keys for all question papers this year, enabling students to better evaluate their answers before applying for revaluation.
