Chhattisgarh, Jan 12: In a significant anti-Naxalite operation, five Naxalites, including two women, were killed during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday morning.
The clash took place in the forested area between Bandepara and Koranjed villages under Madded police station limits, according to Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P. A joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and District Force launched the operation based on intelligence about Naxalite movement in the region, which lies within the Indravati National Park.
“The operation began on Saturday following credible inputs about the presence of Naxalites in the area,” said IG Sundarraj. The encounter occurred as security personnel conducted a combing operation in the dense forest.
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased Naxalites, he added.
This latest success brings the total number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh to 14 in separate operations conducted in 2025. Security forces continue to intensify their efforts to combat Naxalite activities in the state, targeting insurgent strongholds through coordinated operations and intelligence-driven strategies.
The incident underscores the ongoing conflict in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, a hotspot for Naxalite insurgency, where security forces remain committed to restoring peace and stability.
