Udupi, Jan 15: Autism Society, Udupi to Host 'Saathi' shadow teacher training workshop, at IMA Bhavan Udupi, from January 16 to January 18.
Amitha Pai, president of Autism Society, addressing the media in the press conference held on January 15, said, “This three-day workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills and expertise required to support children with special needs effectively in their mainstream educational journey. The workshop will be conducted by Dr Neeta Mehta, a renowned paediatric physiotherapist, autism interventionist, behaviour therapist, and director of Sahas Paediatric Intervention Centre, Mumbai.”
Amitha Pai, said, “The workshop aims to meet the increasing demand for trained shadow teachers in Udupi's schools and educational institutions. A shadow teacher is a professional who provides individualized support to students with learning challenges or special needs in a mainstream classroom. Shadow teachers play a crucial role in ensuring that children with special needs receive the support they require to thrive in an inclusive educational setting. The programme aims to integrate children with autism, ADHD and learning disabilities into mainstream education, empowering them to thrive academically and socially.”
The workshop is organized in collaboration with one good step, Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Kamal A Baliga Charitable Trust, Indian Medical Association IMA Karavali Udupi and Genesis Packaging Private Limited.
Educators and aspiring shadow teachers, parents of children with special needs, individuals passionate about inclusive education, partners and support, are open to join this workshop.
