Udupi: Accused absconding for 15 years arrested from Shivamogga

Udupi, Jan 16: An accused who had been absconding for 15 years has been arrested by the Padubidri police from Shivamogga district.

The accused, Ramesh, a resident of Shikaripura in Shivamogga district, had been involved in theft cases registered at the Padubidri police station in 2010. After being released from jail, Ramesh failed to appear before the court, leading to the issuance of LPC warrants in two cases against him.

On January 14, 2025, acting on information provided by constable Madhusudan, a former officer of the station, head constable Prakash and constable Mohammed Khaji from the Padubidri police station traced the accused to Shikaripura taluk in Shivamogga district.

The accused has now been apprehended and produced before the court.
