Karkala, Jan 17: In a commendable rescue operation, the Karkala fire and emergency services team, led by station officer Albert Monis, along with renowned snake rescuer Ajay Giri, successfully saved a cobra that had fallen into a well at Andaru Kondalki on Thursday.

The incident occurred approximately seven days ago in the plantation of Satish, a resident of Kondalki in the Hebri taluk, Andaru village panchayat area. Despite earlier attempts to rescue the snake, efforts had failed.

On Thursday, the fire services team and Ajay Giri joined forces to retrieve the snake from a 30-foot-deep well. It is suspected that the cobra, weighing around 3 kilograms, may have fallen into the well while pursuing a monitor lizard.

After the successful rescue, the cobra was safely released into the forest. This coordinated effort highlights the dedication and expertise of the rescue teams in dealing with such critical wildlife incidents.
