Mumbai, Jan 3: Film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to make a Hindi remake of the 2002 Tamil blockbuster ‘Ramana’ with none other than the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. And it is also learnt that SRK has agreed to do the movie.
As the movie gives away a strong message against corruption, buzz is that many film makers in the industry have tried their luck to attain the remake rights of the movie. But it was Bhansali who finally managed to get it.
A source close to him said, "After acquiring the rights of the Telugu film ‘Vikramarkurdu’ which he has remade as ‘Rowdy Rathod’ with its original director Prabhu Deva helming the Hindi remake, Sanjay was not really open to another South remake. He did Rowdy... for the experience. But then someone recommended Ramana to him. When Sanjay saw the film, he was blown away. Made nine years ago, it is still as relevant. He had to acquire the remake rights and he had to get the director of the Tamil original to do it."
The movie will reportedly be directed by A R Murugadoss. ‘Ramana’ was originally directed by the Ghajini maker Murugadoss. It was also remade into Telugu and Kannada.
