Mangalore: Dr B Seetarama Shetty Mulky Breathes his Last

Mangalore, Jan 3: Dr B Seetaram Shetty (83), who continued to serve medical, religious, educational, social, and political fields since the last six decades, passed away at his home in Charatipete, Mulky, on Monday January 2, after a brief illness.

He is survived by son, Dr Nagaraj Shetty, a city-based cardiologist, and three daughters.

Shetty had earned confidence of the residents of a number of villages around Mulky because of his unique way of handling things and providing medicines. He used to instill confidence among his patience, was treated as their own family member, and continued to be a healer, confidante and close friend for his patients till the end. He was available for service even at night.

Dr Shetty was the founder trustee of Vijaya College Mulky, an activist of Vishwa Hindu Parishat, and had taken a lead role in the renovation of Goddess Durgaparameshwari Temple in Bappanadu, Mulky. He was a dedicated BJP activist, and founder member of Lions Club Mulky. He also had served as the president of the renovation committee of Adi Janardhana Temple in Shimantoor near Mulky.

A day’s holiday was declared for Vijaya College Mulky as a mark of respect for the departed soul. Minister, Dr V S Acharya, with whom Dr Shetty had close association, former president of Udupi municipality, M Somashekhar Bhat, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA, K Abhay Chandra Jain, former minister, K Amaranath Shetty, former MLA, K Somappa Suvarna, former Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, Harikrishna Punaroor, and scores of other persons have condoled the death of Dr Shetty.
