Moodbidri: Woman’s Suicide – Husband Arrested

Daijiworld Media Network – Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Jan 4: A non-resident Indian was arrested on Tuesday January 3, relating to his wife’s suicide the previous night. Leena Lobo (28), working as nurse in Beltangady government hospital, had ended her life on Monday night at her home.

Leena had married Joseph Alwyn Pinto from Shirtady in October, 2010. Pinto, who works abroad, had left to pursue his employment after marriage. Leena used to commute between her husband’s home and Beltangady every day.

Reportedly, Pinto, who is on a visit to his native place since December  21, questioned Leena after he saw her talking to a man. It is gathered that he suspected her character. Frustrated over this development, Leena committed suicide by mixing some pesticide in her dinner on Monday night, it is said.

The local policemen, who registered a case based on a complaint filed by Leena’s parents, arrested Joseph Alwyn Pinto and produced him in court, upon which he was remanded to judicial custody.

Men cannot fulfill wifes requirements, wifes has to work to support them, over that they suspect women. This person must have harresed her, ignored her so that she must have taken this step to end her life. slefish/possesive natured men should not get married.

I do fully agree that sucide is not the ultimate solution. Leena should have stood her ground and given tit for tat to her husband of few months rather than taking this drastic step. You will note that this poor lady has been plying between her house and the workplace. In addition to the long hours of travel, tedious working hours as a Nurse a barb of a suspicioun from the husband must have snapped the last thread of her patience. Well men want their wives to work to contribute to the family kitty but fail to understand that as a part of the job or as a social norms they may be talking to some person. How many times had he seen his wife with the same person to make him question his wife. Well male chuvenism at the peak. Men can talk or interact with the opposite sex person, but if a lady does this she is suspected of disloyalty to her husband. Even the in-laws might have added fuel to fire. When a husband is away the lady is ill treated mostly by the inlaws, as they are unable to tolerate a new person being a part of their son's life, who so far was solely theirs. May her Soul Rest in Peace
