Udupi, Jan 23: Karnataka home minister Dr G Parameshwar has directed to immediately arrest those involved in the attack on a unisex salon in Mangaluru. Speaking to the media during his visit to Udupi, he emphasized the need to uphold the law and protect the rights of individuals to conduct their business without interference.

"The purpose behind the attack on the unisex salon is not yet known. However, I have instructed the authorities to take action strictly as per the law. Such incidents must not be allowed to occur. Everyone has the right to work, and no one should take the law into their own hands," said Dr Parameshwar.

The minister assured that the attackers would be identified and dealt with sternly. "If there is any illegal activity happening in these establishments, it should be reported to the authorities. Vigilante actions are unacceptable," Dr Parameshwar added.

Dr Parameshwar also pointed out that trade licenses are issued by the local corporation, and establishments must adhere to the conditions laid out. "If rules are violated, action will be taken. I have instructed the police department to ensure that the attackers are arrested immediately and such incidents are prevented in the future," he stated.

Responding to allegations regarding appointments in Tumakur Co-operative Milk Producers’ Societies Union Limited (TUMUL) and criticism from Gubbi MLA, Dr Parameshwar clarified that he was not involved in the process. “I have no information regarding this matter. As the district in-charge minister, I facilitated government nominations. Cooperative minister Rajanna was also present. The chairman is elected by the members, and we have not interfered in this process. They can make any statement, but I was not involved,” he said.

Dr Parameshwar stating about former BJP leader B Sriramulu possibly joining Congress, said “I am not going to make any political statements. The AICC and KPCC presidents have advised against making public political remarks. However, BJP’s internal conflicts are their concern, and we are not involved in them,” he stated.

Referring to BJP’s past criticism of Congress, he added, “They used to claim Congress had multiple factions and was divided. Now we can ask them – how is your party? How many factions and doors does BJP have?”

Responding to BJP's accusations about declining law and order, Dr Parameshwar pointed out issues during BJP’s tenure. “How many robberies, bank thefts, and ATM heist occurred during BJP’s rule? I have the details and will provide them when needed. We have maintained law and order and prevented major communal riots or significant crimes.”

Addressing the recent Mangaluru bank robbery, Dr Parameshwar explained, “Had the police known in advance, they would have prevented it. The bank must ensure security measures. There was a lapse in bank security, but within two days, the police arrested the culprits and recovered gold and cash worth Rs 12 crore. Four individuals have been taken into custody,” he said.
