Raja Pandit Finally Composes Independently for 'Jeet lengey Jahaan'

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): After assisting composers for two decades, Raja Pandit has finally independently directed the soundtrack for the upcoming film "Jeet Lengey Jahaan" and thanks his father, well-known qawwali singer Sambhu of Shanker-Sambhu fame, for music lessons.

"Yes, I have taken lessons in music from my father and guru Sambhuji. I have learnt Hindustani classical and Western music from him. I have also learnt bhajans, geet, tappa, thumri, Sufi and qawwali from him," Raja said in an interview.

The composer also revealed that he has worked with composers like Jatin-Lalit, Roop Kumar Rathod and Pritam.

When asked how he got this offer, he said: "I was on the sets of music reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' with Sanjay Leela Bhansali when his movie 'Guzaarish' was to be released. And that is when Lalit S.M. Bisht, the director of the film, saw me playing the guitar. I met him and he liked my melodies that I had composed and this is how I got the film."

The seven songs composed by Raja have been sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghosal, Shaan, Shail Hada and Pradeep Pandit. Raja has also lent his voice for a song.

The film, based on real-life incidents, has been produced by Sanju Singh and is written and directed by Bisht. Ashok Shukla, Neelambari Perumal, Goldy Sumel, Paras Singh Minhas, Anna and Sonel Singh form the cast of the movie.
