Mangaluru, Jan 28: Prompt action has been taken to address the unhygienic and poor condition of the public toilets in Kadri, following a report by Daijiworld. Kadri ward corporator Manohar Kadri initiated a thorough cleaning of the facilities, ensuring they were restored to an acceptable standard. This quick response highlights the commitment to improving public hygiene and facilities.

The public toilets in Kadri are now in much better condition after the cleaning efforts. The local community has expressed relief and gratitude for the timely action, with hopes that regular maintenance and monitoring will continue to prevent similar situations in the future. This transformation sets a positive example of how public issues can be effectively addressed when brought to attention.

On January 27, Daijiworld reported the poor condition of the public toilet near Kadri ground. The neglected facility was an eyesore for both locals and tourists, reflecting a severe lack of upkeep.

A day after the report, corporator Manohar Kadri responded swiftly by initiating the cleaning of the toilets, resulting in a noticeable improvement.

Speaking to Daijiworld, corporator Manohar Kadri said, “The media highlighted the condition of the Kadri toilet. Unfortunately, no one has been willing to take up the tender for its maintenance. We had kept it open for public use, but the irresponsible behaviour of some users has led to issues like broken wash basins and stolen pipes.

“The condition has been pathetic at times. On multiple occasions, I have personally borne the expenses for cleaning the washroom. However, the misuse continues, and the problem persists. We had closed the facility earlier but reopened it during the Kadri Jaathra Mahotsav for the convenience of tourists.

“I have contacted the contractor managing the State Bank public toilet to explore solutions. Moving forward, we will ensure that the public toilet is maintained properly. I also urge the public not to misuse the facility, to keep it clean, and avoid littering. Replacement of the wash basin and other damaged equipment will be carried out at the earliest.”

Daiji world did a great service to the tourists and local travellers by highlighting this issue through social worker, web and TV reporters. The quick action taken by the local Corporator proves that if the forum like Daijiworld and and other media are used to highlight these issues to reach the concerned officials in a befitting manner, general public will be benefitted and will be thankful to the media for taking up the good cause. Keep up the Good work Daijiworld.I suggest you to start a campaign to improve the condition of the public toilets in the city by reporting the poor maintenance with assistance from local social workers and your reporters and also the corrective action taken.

Anna it is not the fault of public. Shame on Local municipal corporation. When you build a toilet you should provide proper employee to keep the toilet clean. If you need a training just visit some Malls in Mangalore. Every citizen pay tax to govt. Please utilise 1 percent to public toilets.

Hats off to daijiworld for reporting the apathy of our Govt's public toilets. It looks better now, but for how long is the question? My suggestion is you charge a nominal fee for using the public toilets and keep people to clean the toilets regularly. How do our people use public property so irresponsibly? Do they use their own bath rooms & toilets in this manner? Most of the times people need civic sense to use and maintain public property. It is also advisable to train and teach our children at a young age about their social responsibility.

At least now the concerned is woken up. But the condition remains the same. Just pouring some water and brushing doesn't make the toilet suitable for use. It is still unhygienic.

Better late than never. Wake up call for all. Use and let use. Take personal responsibility while using public property. If one does not do anything good, does not matter but never do anything bad. Not doing any bad itself a good thing. One can deceive one's fellow being, but no one can ever deceive God. Born human being, always be human being. Never act worse than animal. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
