Mangaluru, Jan 28: Manipal School hosted its much-anticipated annual exhibition, Mindspark, on Saturday, January 25. The event served as a vibrant platform for students to showcase their creativity, innovation, and application-based learning, attracting an enthusiastic audience of parents and well-wishers. The event featured a diverse range of student projects and models across fields such as social science, math, art, innovation, and skill education.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the school principal, Srilatha Alva, vice principal Shilpa Moger and headmistress Sapna Shetty, through a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the unfurling of the areca flower, reflecting the cultural richness of Dakshina Kannada’s Tulu traditions.

Event Highlights: The exhibits spanned various disciplines, offering a glimpse into the dynamic learning experiences at Manipal School, Mangaluru.

1. Social science: 'From Ladakh to Karnataka: cultures unite'

As part of the CBSE initiative ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, students explored the cultural richness of Ladakh and Karnataka. Models featured worship places, monuments, architectural designs, clothing, jewellery, musical instruments, scripts, dialects, cuisines, landscapes, dance forms, and artwork reflecting the harmonious integration of both states.

2. Innovation: 'Smart living through innovation' 

Students demonstrated their innovative capabilities through working models. Projects included:

o Automatic clothes line system
o Water level indicator
o Blind stick
o Smart dustbin (sensor-based operation)
o Automatic night light (daylight-sensitive)
o Smoke indicator

3. Mathematics: 'M³: Manipal Math Masters' 

Through creative models, students demonstrated complex concepts with simplicity. Highlights included:

o Grade 6: Symmetry and fractions
o Grade 7: Lines, angles, and symmetry
o Grade 8: Nets of 3D shapes
o Grade 9: Volume of a right circular cone
o Grade 10: Applications of trigonometry

4. Skill education projects 

Recently acquired skills through school’s unique skill education programme were also on display. Students had learned various skills in the assigned topics and created projects, which were showcased during the event. These included:

o Rockets and satellites
o Herbal heritage
o Jewellery making
o Block printing
o Financial literacy and marketing
o Mask making
o Embroidery

5. Art exhibit: The art section showcased stunning artwork that reflected students’ creativity, passion, skills and dedication.

The exhibition was a resounding success, with participation from students of grades 3 to 9. Parents and teachers appreciated the students’ creativity, innovative thinking, presentation skills, and the guidance provided by their mentors.
