Shahabad, Feb 5: A case has been registered against former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, along with other AAP members, at Shahabad police station following court directives. The FIR stems from allegations that Kejriwal made provocative and misleading statements accusing the Haryana BJP government of “poisoning” the Yamuna River.
The complaint, filed by advocate Jagmohan Manchanda, claims that Kejriwal’s remarks—captured in a viral video—were intended to defame the Haryana government and the ruling BJP for electoral advantages in Delhi. Manchanda alleged that the AAP leader’s statements were part of a larger conspiracy, aimed at inciting public unrest in both Delhi and Haryana while influencing voter sentiment.
“Kejriwal, as a former Chief Minister, is fully aware of the water supply systems in Delhi. Despite this, he chose to spread misinformation, deliberately targeting the Haryana government,” Manchanda stated.
Manchanda, who also serves as the president of Markandeshwar Mahadev Shiv Mandir in Shahabad Markanda, expressed particular concern over the timing of the remarks. He noted that the comments coincided with the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, where millions of Hindu devotees are participating in the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, which includes the Yamuna River.
The FIR has been registered under multiple sections related to spreading false information, promoting enmity, making false accusations, and engaging in deliberate and malicious acts intended to provoke unrest.
