Puttur: ITI Student Commits Suicide

Puttur, Jan 10: A student named Kartik (19), son of Padmayya Gowda froom Soodlu in Bilinele village, who had attempted suicide recently, died in a hospital in Mangalore on Sunday January 8. He was the student of a private industrial training institute in Nintikal, Sullia taluk. Padmayya is employed in Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Bilinele. Kartik is survived by parents and a sister.

Kartik, who had left home on January 4 for college, had consumed poisonous substance on the way. He was found lying in an unconscious state, and transported to a private hospital here. On January 6, he was shifted to Mangalore and admitted into a private hospital there for advanced treatment. But he did not respond to treatments there too.

It is learnt that last year, the student, who was then studying in a college in Subrahmanya, had left home out of anger, and had returned after three months.
