Amritsar, Feb 10: In a significant breakthrough, Amritsar Police on Sunday night apprehended three suspects linked to the recent blast outside the non-functional Fatehgarh police post. The accused, identified as Lovepreet Singh, Karandeep Singh, and Buta Singh, were reportedly part of a terror module operated by gangster-turned-terrorist Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passian.

According to Police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the trio was intercepted following a tip-off about their movement towards the Rajasansi area. When confronted, two of them attempted to flee and opened fire on the police party. In the ensuing encounter, Karandeep and Buta Singh sustained injuries in retaliatory firing.

Authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, a .30-bore Glock pistol, and a .32-bore pistol from their possession. Bhullar further disclosed that the accused had received a packet containing explosives, which was used to orchestrate the blast outside the police post on February 3.

Investigations revealed that Buta Singh had recruited Lovepreet and Karandeep at the behest of Happy Passian. Senior officials, including Commissioner Bhullar, reached the encounter site to oversee the developments.

Police have intensified their probe into the case, as efforts are underway to trace further links of the terror network.
