Moodbidri, Feb 11: Carmel School, Moodbidri, celebrated its Merit Day with grandeur on February 4, recognizing and honoring students and teachers for their outstanding achievements in academics and extracurricular activities.
The event commenced with a soulful prayer followed by a welcome dance by the little ones, setting the stage for a joyous celebration. The welcome speech was delivered by Jane Mascarenhas, extending a warm greeting to the guests and attendees.

A mesmerizing performance, 'Dance with Them – Chandra Yanna', by Grade 2 students captivated the audience. The event was graced by the esteemed chief guest, Dr Cecilia Helen D’Souza, an assistant teacher at Holy Rosary College, who inspired students with her insightful speech on the five essential qualities every student should possess.
Carmel school proudly recognized the outstanding achievements of its students in various championships and academic excellence. The special event was held to appreciate and celebrate the remarkable performances of students who excelled in different fields, including the Carmel Fest Championship, 100% Attendance Awards, and Carmel Blossom Achievements.
A moment of special pride was the honoring of talented student Ashwil Neil Lobo of grade 7 and his parents. Ashwil was felicitated for receiving the Karantha Balapuraskar Award championed by the Dr Shivarama Karanth Prathishtana Trust Kota, in collaboration with the Dr Shivarama Karanth Balavana Trust Udupi.His artistic brilliance and dedication to extracurricular activities were recognized as an inspiration to his peers.
Another significant milestone was celebrated as Alani Leora D’Souza of grade 4 and her parents were honoured for her extraordinary achievement in Konkani music. She made history by becoming the youngest rising star in Konkani music, a feat that brought immense pride to the school and the Konkani community.
The event was a testament to Carmel School's commitment to nurturing talent beyond academics and encouraging students to pursue excellence in diverse fields. The Principal, staff, and students applauded the young achievers, acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of their parents.
