All Statues of Mayawati, BSP Covered

Lucknow, Jan 12: Expediating the covering up exercise, the district administration of Lucknow claimed to have veiled all the statues of Chief Minister (CM) Mayawati and Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) election symbol-elephant on Wednesday.

Election Commission had slated 5 pm as the deadline for covering up of all the statues of Mayawati and elephant till Wednesday. District Magistrate (DM) Lucknow, Anil Kumar Sagar stated that a report in this regard will be submitted to the EC.

Hectic activities was witnessed at the memorials constructed by Mayawati which have her statues and elephant. There are nearly 10 statues of Mayawati and 100 stone statues. Even bronze pillars upto 30 feet high have elephant statues atop them. Labours raced against time in covering the statues.Bundles of tarpauline was brought to hide these statues. For the large than life statues of Mayawati, a seperate shuttering of steel was erected and the statues of Mayawati were enclosed with board. Even small statues of elephant near fountains were covered with satin hiding everything from public eye.

Maya's force raised specially for guarding the monuments was mute spectator while labours and officials tried to complete the things. Meanwhile, it was also reported that all memorials have been closed to stop further public curious gaze till further orders.
