Puttur: Pillion Rider Dies in Accident, Bike Rider Injuired

Puttur, Jan 13: Jabbar (22), son of the late Mohammed from Sanjayanagar in Koornadka here, lost his life on Thursday January 12 evening, after meeting with an accident at Kalleri on Guruvayanakere Road. Jabbar was a bachelor, and he operated a juice centre near bus stand here.

The motor bike a person named Rafiq (23), son of the late Ibrahim, was riding, and a private bus that was plying between Uppinangady and Madantyar, were involved in a collision at Kalleri. While Jabbar, who was riding the pillion, died on the spot, his friend, Rafiq, who was riding the bike, was admitted into a hospital in Mangalore with grave injuries.

Reportedly, the two were moving together to invite people for the upcoming marriage of Rafiq. The people who gathered at the spot went berserk, alleging that private buses moving on this road are driven recklessly, and putting lives of people in danger. Uppinangady police circle inspector, Y Jagadish and other policemen arrived on the spot and pacified the crowd.
