Mangaluru, Feb 21: The primary students of Mount Carmel Central School, joyfully celebrated International Mother Language Day on Friday, February 21 with enthusiasm and reverence. The event was hosted by the students of grades I A, D, E and II E, showcasing their deep appreciation for linguistic diversity.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer, followed by a warm welcome extended by Senora, Dhyan, Prathishtha, and Thvisha, accompanied by a captivating welcome dance. Adam, Aaron and Samhitha elaborated on the significance of the day. A thought-provoking skit stood out as the highlight of the event, beautifully illustrating the uniqueness of each language while emphasising the unity found in diversity.

The chief guest, Ma’am Hannah Thangathai, former teacher of MCCS, commended the students for their talents and stressed the need to respect and celebrate all languages. In her message, administrator Sr Carissima encouraged students to love and cherish their mother language while also valuing the languages of their friends.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Lenora, Shrihan, Kunal, and Akshaj. The programme was skilfully compered by Sheethal, Noah, Yashika, Smayan and Arunya.

The celebration truly reinforced the spirit of linguistic harmony and cultural pride, leaving everyone with a profound appreciation for their mother tongue and the beauty of languages worldwide.
