Mangaluru CCB police seize 23 grams of MDMA, two arrested in drug bust

Mangaluru, Feb 24: In a major drug bust, Mangaluru's City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two men for trafficking and selling MDMA, a banned narcotic.

The police seized 23 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 1,15,000, along with two mobile phone handsets and a Suzuki scooter, making the total value of confiscated goods approximately Rs 2,10,000.

The arrested suspects are:

  • Sheikh Sikander (22) from Kalaburgi, and
  • Mohammad Tawfiq (29), a resident of Mangaluru.

According to police, Sikander purchased the drugs in Mumbai, transported them to Mangaluru via Kalaburgi, and sold them to Tawfiq.

Tawfiq then distributed the drugs, mainly targeting students and the public for illegal profit. The operation was carried out in the Kavoor police jurisdiction, where the accused were caught in the act of selling the drugs.

Sikander, who has a previous criminal record, including a murder case, and Tawfiq are now facing charges. Investigations are ongoing as police suspect a larger drug network in operation.

The raid was led by police inspector Rafique K M under the guidance of ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with the involvement of PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, and the CCB team.
