Udupi, Feb 25:A tipper lorry overturned, killing the driver on the spot near Ganapanakatte turn in Kattingeri, Moodubelle under the Belli gram panchayat, in the early hours of Tuesday, February 25.
The deceased has been identified as Subramanya Acharya (40) from Byndoor.
The tragic accident occurred around 4 AM. The tipper was on its way from Byndoor to Palli, carrying jelly stones when it suddenly overturned on the road. As a result, the driver, Subramanya, was trapped under the tipper and lost his life on the spot.
After the accident, Belle gram panchayat members Gururaj Bhat, Sudhakar Poojary, and Krishna Acharya, along with Shirva police personnel, arrived at the scene. With the help of a JCB, they lifted the lorry and retrieved the driver’s body, which was later sent to Ajjarkad District Hospital.
A case has been registered at Shirva police station.
