Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: Union health and family welfare minister JP Nadda arrived in Odisha on Friday to participate in a national health summit organized by the National Health Mission (NHM) in Puri.
According to the health and family welfare department, Nadda will inaugurate the 9th National Summit on good, replicable practices and innovation in public healthcare system in India and release the report of the 16th common review mission.

The inaugural function will also be attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and state health and family welfare minister Mukesh Mahaling. The two-day event will take place at Swosti Premium Beach Resort, Puri.
The first national health summit was held in 2013, and over the years, it has evolved into an institutional platform for sharing healthcare innovations supported by the National Health Mission.
The National Health Innovation Portal (NHInP), launched during the Shimla Summit in 2015, continues to play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing best practices and innovations in the public healthcare system, official sources stated.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significant role played by the Ayush sector in promoting holistic well-being and good health.
Chairing a review meeting, the Prime Minister discussed measures to enhance the sector’s impact through research, innovation, and global collaborations.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated, "The Ayush sector has played a pivotal role in promoting holistic well-being and good health. Today, I chaired a review meeting to further strengthen its impact through research, innovation, and global collaborations. India remains committed to making traditional medicine a key pillar of healthcare."
Highlighting India's progress in traditional medicine, he added, "In the last decade, the Ayush sector has grown exponentially. With initiatives like Ayush Visa, AI-driven research, and the WHO global traditional medicine centre in Jamnagar, India is leading the way in evidence-based traditional medicine."
