Second PU exams begin in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 1: The annual second PUC examinations for the academic year 2024-25 began on March 1 and will continue until March 20. The department of school education has made all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the exams. In Dakshina Kannada district, the examinations will be held across 55 centers, with a total of 36,374 students appearing for the exams.

The exams will take place in 55 centers across Dakshina Kannada district, including 19 in Mangaluru, 6 in Bantwal, 5 in Puttur, 7 in Beltangady, 2 in Sullia, 5 in Moodbidri, 5 in Kadaba, 2 in Mulki, and 4 in Ullal taluk. Among these, 15 are government institutions, 22 aided institutions, and 18 are unaided institutions.

A total of 36,374 students from Dakshina Kannada district have registered for the Second PUC exams. This includes 34,434 regular students, 1,631 private candidates, 2 improvement candidates, and 307 repeaters. Among the examinees, 18,337 are girls, and 18,037 boys.

In Udupi district, 16,203 students from 103 colleges had registered for the exams, including freshers, private candidates, and repeaters. The exams will be conducted in 28 centers across the district.

As many as 7,728 students from the science stream, 7,246 from the commerce stream, and 1,229 from the arts stream will appear for the exams. Among them, 15,685 are freshers, 351 private candidates, 163 are repeaters, and 4 were reattempting the exams.

For the first time, CCTV cameras have been installed inside and outside all examination halls at every center. The footage is being monitored from the strong room at the deputy commissioner's office.

A district-level inspection team has been formed, along with separate teams at the taluk level. Additionally, a state-level team will conduct surprise inspections. Special arrangements have been made for students wearing hijabs, allowing them to remove them in a designated area before entering the exam center.

As per KSRTC's directive, PUC students are being allowed to travel for free on government buses during the exam period. They could avail of this facility by showing their exam hall ticket. Authorities have ensured that buses on all routes operated on time for the convenience of students.
